Flying Fort Funston

Postby nandi » Mon Jun 06, 2005 3:08 pm

I am regular at Marina Hang III rated since 1997 few hundred hours of flying, but never had chance to fly funston.

How do I get membership/sticker to fly funston. Also would I need a sponser to fly south of the bowl ? Definitely would not jump of the cliff
without talking to someone at funston :-)

Help appreciated. Enjoy the big air

north of the bowl

It was log 10 hours north of the bowl, then be escorted to westlake by a sponcer/member...
If the air is good, it's a 90% chance there will be pilots there who can sign you up for membership/sticker (PRIOR TO FLYING)....if they like your logbook ;)

Check out http://flyfunston.org/site.php.html for full instructions. Like Diev says, there's usually someone around to give you a sticker and a site introduction. You could always call Urs or Henry to arrange a meeting ahead of time.

westlake

Is this the current westlake rule (from rules.php.html)? I haven't signed a "Westlake Form", but I have been
escorted to Westlake.

Doug Hahn

6. Hang IV pilots may fly south of the Bowl without restriction. The first two flights south of
the Bowl by pilots without Hang IV ratings must be supervised by a pilot who has made at
least 25 flights to Westlake. Before the first flight, the pilot shall read and sign a Westlake form.
