given we have more time for proximity flight than wingsuiters do falling out of planes we should all be able to fly some hangie formations at funston next summer! =)

Awesome video, it's cool to see everyone flying on a flat plane like that. Did you all practice getting into your positions on the ground first?
I agree, let's make some plans for Funston! Maybe we can even use some signal flares as long as we notify all the local authority's so nobody thinks we are posing a threat to national security. Or that we are an airplane on fire.

nice steve, i'm serious, i think we could get a nice 6 diamond formation cruising in front of funston!
Here is last years video from the same event with some cool ground shots, etc, where you see the formation much better!

we had 71 pilots last year, but didn't have the official guidelines so it didn't count as a record..

I think if we had enough gliders in the air over westlake (say 15-25 or so) we could all fly in formation over the water

Let's start planning the Funston Formations for next year!

Rob, shoot me an email so I have your contact information, and I'll set up a call with Diev and Steve and others interested so we can start planning this.

Initial thoughts are to have a similar format to the wingsuit big ways, with 3-4 squadron leaders training with their individual groups, then combining the formations.

Didn't some skydivers in Tracy die a couple months ago trying this?

skydivers are nuts (sorry Dave but it's true).....
they fall (forward sometimes :-0) but that sport is dangerous I must say....
...
some as in more than one at once? I hope not but my thoughts go out if it's true.....I should call my sac drop buddy...Seth.

there was a fatality at elsinore dropzone after the wingsuit record event was over, a pilot hit his head on the rear stabilizer, very experienced pilot, number of contributing factors, unfortunate...
steve and i are working on a safety protocol document for review for comments by the participating pilots, if anyone has any experience with HG formation flying and would like to participate let us know...
