I believe 1000MPH gust readings of the last few are in error
Bad contacts in the anemometer?

Hi Steve,

What, are you afraid of soaring in 1,000 mph winds? (wink)

Chuck is in the process of refurbishing some new electronics for the weather station, parts are on order. There may also be issues with the solar cells, more troubleshooting may be needed.

My 'Windy cliff launch' training did not teach me how to fit 1K of wiremen to hold my wing steady while I launch ;)

Thanks for the equipment status update.

I only mentioned it because I did not see a 'We are working on it' topic.
I won't tell you how many times I have heard from users: "I thought you knew' or "it ha been doing that forever (1 week)"

Thanks Chuck for keeping th stuff running all these years

Ha! I'll see your 1000 mph and raise you 1088421888 mph. So there!

Peak gust is 1092616192 mph or 1.63 c (speed of light), pretty seriously relativistic. Or a sad commentary on the intelligence and comon sense of machines.

Either way this is a good time of year for it to break, with lots of rainy or non flyable days to fix it.

Thanks, Chuck!

Hmm. You're going to need a Litespeed for that.

Yes! Flew my Litespeed yesterday, Saturday 11/22/14, though the wind was only 0.00000003 c. Could not see any relativistivc effects.

The good news: I installed our brand new Davis Vantage Pro weather station on the antenna tower today!

The bad news: The base station is having issues, will need to go back another day and reboot/troubleshoot the system. :-(

FWIW if you look at the wunderground for this station, wind readings look normal

Note that wundergrund did change their graphing a short while back. Compatibility issues??

Hi Steve U.,

I'm not finding our station on the wunderground map: http://www.wunderground.com/wundermap/? ... =10&wxsn=1

Where are you seeing those "normal" looking wind readings?

 I was looking at Wrong station (http://www.wunderground.com/personal-we ... ASANFR1000

ours is (the graph label is not a link)
http://www.wunderground.com/personal-we ... KCASANFR69

It looks just as bogus (negative gusts = wind suck  )
Some how there is an signed offset getting introduced into the wind data.

George and I got a Davis Instruments tech guy on the line while we were at the clubhouse. His prognosis of the Vantage Pro2 console is that the LCD screen is bad. Could be other things wrong with it as well, so we ordered a refurbished unit to replace ours. It should arrive this coming week and I'll plug it in ASAP after that.

We don't need another console. All we use it for is receiving the data and sending it to the server.
I found the bug in the server and hooked it back up.

Thanks Chuck for getting the speed and direction working on the wind and tempdial png's.

Do you know why the Wunderground weather graphs are now blank? (They were populating yesterday)

If you go directly to the Wunderground site: "Not Reporting'

Is the PC for the weather station different from the clubhouse camera?

What's happening with the camera's and wind readings? Seems like there was an effort to collect some extra donations to get things working consistently. I did contribute a bit extra, and am willing to put a little more time and/or money behind the effort if something tangible would come out of the effort. Fellow feathers website is looking a bit tired for a venerable flying site such as this. What happened?

We did replace our entire Davis weather station (that was shot from wind, sand, and salt air), and also the instrument console and data logger (that was outdated), so your donation went to a good cause, thank you very much!

I'm guessing that there is now a software/communication issue between the cameras and our server machines. They run on Linux, so if you are an expert (or know of one), please contact our Tech Officer Chris Ellis to lend support: technology[at]flyfunston(dot)org

We are all volunteers so any extra help will be much appreciated!
