Chuck has been trying to get access to the Ropes building to reboot the router. He has added Tim W. to the Tech department to help out.

FYI, the GGNRA is renovating the building for their maintenance department and will eventually staff it 9-5. After that, getting access will not be an issue!

there used to be a magnetic switch on the window where the ropes camera is ...., so is it possible to reset it from outside of the building

The remote control power switch that I had installed was left off when the equipment was moved to a more secure and dedicated location within the Ropes building. (thinking that the building would soon be staffed)
With the buildings renovation progress being what it is, I'll ask Chuck if he thinks we shouldn't put the remote power switch back inline first chance we get.

I have restarted to router and power cycled the webcam but, it is still not working. Chuck said that someone must have hacked the router and that is why it is still not working.

Nonsense! Maybe it's your computer?

Actually Chuck said something at the last meeting about the internet connection to that cam not being under our control, so he's trying to get the necessary people to get it running again.

We are working with the Ocean Currents Monitoring folks to get the DSL back in service. It should not be long now.

There was some confusion with the folks who provide us with the free DSL in the Ropes building. Had to do with billing and who eventually took ownership of the line. It took a long time to figure things out, but persistence pays off!

Heads up: Getting the Ropes cam back online involved having a different organization take over the DSL line. The phone # will be moved to the new account holder on Sept. 1. (that is the current date of the AT&T work order)

We can expect the Ropes cam to be down for that week while the AT&T business office completes their work. After that, everything should be solid and reliable, and at no charge to us!

Notice: Planned outage of Ropes cam. Due to ATT business procedures, the Ropes cam will be off-line probably until the end of this coming week. No other outages are expected.

This is the final step in transferring the Ropes building phone number and DSL ownership to another agency. This other agency is very stable and should be around for a long time, as will our Ropes cam!

PS; This process has involved three independent agencies, ATT and the FF. Everyone has worked hard to achieve this much cooperation. Thanks to everyone involved!
