Club is looking for a network/security camera

Postby Daniel Pifko » Fri Apr 20, 2007 10:20 am

Hey guys,

The camera system in the ropes building needs to be reworked to stay up and look good. This is the one that looks directly into the setup area - the right hand column at http://flyfunston.org/history.php.html .

I'd like to put in a network camera - one that just plugs into an ethernet connection (which we have in that building) and runs its own web server and image uploader. Something like these would work: http://www.axis.com/products/video/came ... utdoor.htm or http://www.iqeye.com/iqeye300.html .

Do you have a network camera you could donate? Do you work for a company that makes them and would be willing to donate one to the club, or at least sell at a non-profit discount?

The camera will be inside but will point outside. As a result, most of the really inexpensive network cameras (e.g. http://www.axis.com/products/cam_206/index.htm ) won't work - the light outside is too bright and will burn them out in no time.

Please post here or get in touch with Daniel Pifko at http://flyfunston.org/officers.php.html .

Thanks,

Daniel

Fellow Feathers received a spiffy new web camera donated by Iqeye! (click their ad on the wind page)

I helped Daniel Pifko do the install this afternoon and it will go online after a brief testing period!
