No such thing as a Funston waiver (anymore!)

.
For decades, hang glider pilots used to have to sign a special GGNRA waiver to fly at Fort Funston. The key words are "used to". On February 25, 2011, we were instructed by the GGNRA to STOP using their waiver! Ever since that time, the only waiver that pilots need to have signed is the USHPA waiver, as part of their USHPA membership.

Not having current USHPA membership and insurance puts the site at risk, and is why our Special Use Permit requires that pilots have a Funston sticker on their helmet. Pilots who don't have a sticker on their helmet shouldn't be surprised if they get "carded"!
