Hat Creek Rim Pilots,
Recently Cloud Street Gang Hang Gliding Club offered the money and resources
to improve the launch at Hat Creek Rim.
The funds to complete the project have been donated by active HCR pilots
that feel the safety of the launch would be vastly improved by its widening
and raising to the level of the surrounding terrain.
The reason for starting this thread is to solicit input from the pilots that
fly Hat Creek Rim about the proposed project. Results will be shared with
the Use Permit holders and the Forest Service.

The pilots proposing the project feel strongly that the wider and more open
the launch ramp is, th! e safer launching will be.
Of course there are opposing opinions.
So...

All opinions are welcome. Of course the opinions of Pilots that are familiar
with Hat Creek launch will carry more weight than those from pilots that are
not. We are also very interested in pilots' experience with different launch
configurations as well as the obvious; width, height, length, slope.
We ask that all discussions be kept respectful and to the point. Our only
goal is to make HCR a safer and more enjoyable flying experience.
But...
If leaving the launch as it is now proves to be the consensus, then so be
it.
