drones

Hi guys and gals, a heads up , about drones. Lots of people around here have bought one, and they want to fly them. Funston is an attractive place to try that. Yesterday i saw a park policeman handing a ticket to a guy who was flying his drone at the north corner of the parking lot. If you see a drone flying alongside your glider, don't be too surprised, but know , it's an illegal act. you'll have to decide what to do at the time. these drones sometimes have a go Pro on them ,which you can see hanging below the fuselage . the goPro can swing around and view any angle , while the image is sent live feed to the pilot on the ground . so, you may not be able to figure out who is piloting the drone , because he could be far away. it sounds like Park police want to stop any aerial conflict problems before they start, so, maybe we won't end up seeing any of these wingmen on our tips. maybe carry a small tennis racket to drive away these insects....Charlie

Charlie do you happen to have a link to the park regulations under which that person was cited?

Is there a legal distinction between a drone and an RC aircraft?

Thanks Chris. Seems pretty clear. Also it seems to have nothing to do with hang gliders which is what I was curious about. It seems more focused on curbing behavior annoying to both man and beast.

Drones are also Powered (model) aircraft
AFAIK only RC gliders are permitted

drones can produce visual art. run the video at the bottom of this article , it's filmed from a drone at Waddell Beach. this artist draws mandalas on the sand where we break our gliders down when we land on that beach ( next to the restrooms) http://www.mercurynews.com/bay-area-new ... cles-santa

The third link is the rule.
It prohibits drones, rc airplaines, and rc gliders the same.

Nice to watch it go through the clouds, but then skip to the last minute as it runs out of juice.

great find , Urs. cool footage .
good thing the guy wasn't flying very close to the cliff edge or he might have gotten underwater movies.
most of you have heard about the following occurrance already.
so , would it be logical to conclude that the GGNRA police are Federal employees and might have Tase-a Bility, like their Hawaiin counterparts
