US Open and Fort Funston this weekend
Posted: Tue Jun 12, 2012 9:06 pmThe Olympic Club is hosting the US Open golf tournament this week/weekend. The city of Daly City is doing major road closures and detours in the area, including one-way traffic, closing some portions of John Muir Drive, etc.
Paraphrasing what the GGNRA special events folks said: The parking lot will remain open this year. There are signs discouraging people who're attending the tournament from parking there, but the lot itself is not actually locked or off limits. There will be US Open staff along Skyline who're supposed to be monitoring pedestrians, but there won't be NPS staff at the gate as in years past.
In summary; no special access is needed for the lot, recommend getting there early enough in the day to avoid the traffic back-up from the road closures.
